books by Abdo from the Noun Project

Welcome to Anticipated Reads, formerly hosted by Books Are My Thing and now hosted here at Reviews In A Pinch (check out our new graphic, courtesy of my friend Kelsey)!  The idea is that we showcase 1-3 books releasing each month (I generally can’t/won’t limit myself), letting you know what new books are coming out that we’re really excited about.

It’s a monthly meme that will be occurring the first Wednesday of every month!  Better yet, if you want to share books you’re anticipating coming out, you can link up at the bottom of each month’s post in the comments!

So, let’s check out what I’m excited about in June below:

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios
  • Release Date:  June 13, 2017

Overview:  Grace wants out. Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors. Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams. Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone.

Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it’s too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she’s unable to escape.

Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again.

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab
  • Release Date:  June 13, 2017

Overview:  Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human, no matter how much he once yearned for it. He’s a monster with a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.

Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows—one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons—it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.
